Tips for Visiting
Before Your Visit
You will receive a written confirmation with pre and post-visit materials. These materials are also available online in the Teacher Guides section.
- Prepare your students for a visit to a museum, walking tour or historic house.
- Review proper behavior when visiting a museum.
- View our website with your students to learn the history of the Fairfield Historical Society and to preview our exhibits.
During Your Visit
- Give students an assignment or things to look for.
- Encourage students to notice and predict.
- Adequately supervise your students.
After Your Visit
- Review post-visit materials and present to your group.
- Discuss with your group their impressions about the tour;
- Did they learn something new?
- Were they surprised by anything?
- Compare and contrast some of the objects and stories from the tour with students’ lives today.
- Create a class project or writing assignment to research more about your topic.
- Write us a letter or email about your experience.
- Complete an Educator Evaluation Form
