Plan Your Visit
The Fairfield Museum & History Center will be expanding its educational programs throughout the year. Additional tours will be added in Spring, 2008.
Availability
Educational programs at the Fairfield Museum and History Center and at your school are available Tuesday through Friday starting on October 15, 2007.
The Ogden House will be undergoing repairs and will have limited availability. Please call for more information.
Reservations
Please schedule your visit at least three weeks in advance. You may download our program request form, or use the checklist below:

Admission
Tours are $5 per student. If you would like to schedule a Museum Educator to conduct a pre or post-visit program in your classroom, there is an additional fee $2 per student. Please consult our Educational Programs section for more information.
Chaperones
One teacher or chaperone is required for every ten students and is admitted free of charge. Any additional chaperones are charged the student rate. Chaperones and teachers are responsible for supervising the group.
Please have all students and chaperones wear name tags!
Cancellations / Late Arrivals
Please make sure that you arrive on time! Allow enough time for buses to arrive, park and drop-off students. Late arrivals will result in a shortened program.
Lunch
The museum has limited lunch facilities. Please call for more information and availability.
Accessibility
The Fairfield Museum & History Center is fully accessible to the handicapped. Special needs groups are welcome. The walking tours are conducted outdoors and in the historic properties on the green – they have limited availability and accessibility. Please call with any special needs and we can adjust the program for your group.
Directions / Bus Parking
From New Haven & Points North: Take I-95 South to Exit 22. At end of ramp, turn left. Go under I-95 and railroad tracks to stoplight at intersection with Post Road. Turn right, go one block to traffic light; turn left onto Beach Road. Cross Old Post Road. Museum entrance is on your right.
From Westport, N.Y. & Points South: Take I-95 North to Exit 22 (follow signs & stay to right of McDonald's plaza). At end of ramp, turn right. Go under railroad tracks to stop light at intersection with Post Road. Go straight across intersection; turns into Beach Road. Cross Old Post Road. Museum entrance is on your right.
From Merritt/Hutchinson Parkway (North or South): Take Exit 44 onto Black Rock Turnpike, follow "Fairfield" signs. Watch for Route 135 signs, and take right onto Rte 135; follow past Fairfield University into town. Stay on route 135, under I-95 and railroad tracks to stoplight at intersection with Post Road. Turn right, go one block to traffic light; turn left onto Beach Road. Cross Old Post Road. Museum entrance is on your right.
From 25/8 Connector: Take Route 8 Connector south to Bridgeport; take 95 South. Follow above directions "From New Haven & Points North."
To The Ogden House and Gardens:
From I-95 southbound: Exit 20 (Bronson Road); turn right onto Bronson Road. Ogden House is 1.3 miles ahead on the right.
From I-95 northbound: Exit 21 (Mill Plain Road); turn left onto Mill Plain Road. Bear left onto Sturges Road and turn right onto Bronson Road. Continue as for southbound above.
From Merritt Parkway northbound: Exit 44; turn right onto Congress Street. Turn left onto Hillside Road and turn left on Bronson Road. Ogden House is .3 mile ahead on the left.
From Merritt Parkway southbound: Exit 44 (Route 58 - Black Rock Turnpike); turn left onto Congress Street, then left again onto Rte. 58 S. Turn right onto Congress Street. Continue as for northbound above.
